History shouldn't be decided democratically. Unfortunately the free market has just such an effect. No, I'm not here to whine about the inaccuracy of wikipedia; I'm upset with the History Channel.
Apparently a lot of younger people are starting to watch this station. This is easily recognized because the commercials are trending from Gold Bold medicated powder and the hoveround scooter, more towards Doritos and cheap car insurance.
This is no big shock - in the reality tv age, we've already seen the demise of the Discovery channel, which used to be quite educational and scientific. For the past few years though, you couldn't turn on Discovery without seeing a show about a dude building a motorcycle. I will credit them for coming back a little from that less-enlightening fare recently.
Long story short - the History Channel has lost a lot of credibility with me. Market forces dictate that they show what will appeal most to the "average" television viewer, thus promoting non-science and history (the average person doesn't care for these.) Goodbye World War II, hello "Dogfights." Really, I just want to set the record straight on a few things:
-There is no "bible code." Anyone who's ever played Boggle knows it's a joke. See also: Da Vinci Code. Just a book, History producers.
-Nostradamus did predict the future. ANYone can do this by being vague, and waiting long enough. You may one day find yourself reading a stupid blog.
-Aliens did not build Atlantis, or the pyramids. Even if you wear a fedora, you cannot convince me of this.
-There is no wormhole in the bermuda triangle. Nor ghosts or sea monster. Watch the Weather Channel.
