Frito-lay has rolled out a new marketing campaign for Cheetos. Consumers are encouraged to "stick it to the man", generally by making a mess with the greasy orange sticks.
Probably the stupidest, most dangerous marketing campaign since "drink unleaded", these commercials and the accompanying website made me laugh, get angry, then laugh again.
The rules of the project contradict the examples we've seen in the commercials (Vandalism), but all latently encourage misuse of the product. The site sadly tries to combine "Project Mayhem" (Fight Club) with "The Dharma Initiative" (Lost). Kudos to youtube for taking down fire in the hole, and then encouraging this drivel. Brilliant!
I am also upset with the decision to make Chester Cheetah CGI and give him a British accent.
